Dolomiti Hut to Hut
The northeastern Alps stretch like a crown across the top of bella Italia. The 18 peaks that form the eastern and most renowned range, called the Dolomiti, are spread over three different regions: Trentino, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto. The Dolomiti are deserving of their legendary descriptions: lacy spires of pink tinted rock, unique to this area. Two hundred million years ago this area was a sea, and the unusual formations are fossils left from the rich marine life, fossils that were jolted upwards thirty million years ago when the continents collided. This remarkable and truly unique geology was rewarded when the entire park was named a Unesco World Heritage Site, a patrimony to mankind, in 2009. Together we’ll cross the beautiful Dolomiti on foot, hut to hut and range to range, from chic Cortina to fairy tale Bressanone. Snowy peaks, green valleys sprinkled with wildflowers, silver ribbons of rivers, small reflecting lakes, spectacular vistas and turreted rock formations accompany us on challenging but rewarding hikes that will forever remain impressed in your heart and mind.
