Morning pick up in Ljubljana and a night on the lake with picturesque views of Bled Island and Castles. Today’s hike is in the beautiful “Three Hills” that circle the lake.
Savica is one the most dramatic waterfalls in Slovenia. From here, we head high up into the mountains, sleeping in two different mountain huts and hiking one of the most magnificent routes in the Julian Alps. This national park embraces the famous Triglav Lakes Valley. We’ll hike by many lakes, through spruce and beech forests, viewing verdant valleys, surrounded by limestone peaks in the higher ranges.
Today’s hike is a long descent to the Bohinj Lake, and afterwards a visit to a small medieval village. We spend one night in Kranjska Gora and the next day hike to the highest mountain pass of Vršič, descending to the beautiful Soča valley to have a night in Kobarid.
Our excursions from the capital city of Ljubljana, where we spend our last two nights, include the Great Highlands, where ancient wooden huts with conical roofs are spread through an area known for its shepherds and sheep cheese. An afternoon will be spent exploring the pretty historic city center with a local guide.
