How long have you been in business?

Mario Acciai has been leading hiking tours throughout Italy since 1995. He has been offering high quality cultural, hiking, adventure tours that have acquired great success thanks to his uniquely tailored trip experiences. Recently his son Lorenzo Acciai has opened Journey Through Italy and continues the family tradition of excellence.

What kinds of trips are offered?

We have wonderful tours that range from seven to ten days. Traveling in small groups by foot and with vans we are able to explore hidden forests, rolling hillsides, picturesque villages and experience the culture first hand.
Upon request we can organize adventure oriented groups which can include cycling, kayaking and rock climbing.

Who goes on Journey Through Italy Adventures trips?

Our travelers love Italian culture, its landscape and marvelous food, music and poetry. Our trips are composed of people traveling alone, couples, families, friends and friends of friends. We have a good mix of men and women of different ages and often different hiking abilities.

What is your maximum group size?

We like to travel with a minimum of six to a maximum of twelve participants. However upon request we can accommodate both larger and smaller groups.

Do you offer private departures for small groups?

Yes. We offer private departures for all kinds of groups, including couples, groups of friends and families with children. Just email us for any further details and requests.

What if my friends and I want a private tour?

We specialize in creating private tours tailored to taste. You let us know your general or specific requests and we will gladly set everything up for you to taste. Our wonderful guides, our delicious picnics, beautiful trails, comfortable hotels and much more await! Who are your guides?

What do I need to bring?

We will provide a complete list outlining needed clothing and equipment for each trip when you sign up.

What kind of accommodations will I be staying in?

During our scoutings we try to research the best accommodations possible according to the locations that we are in. We always keep an eye out for easily accessible, comfortable, spacious and charming hotels.

How will I be moving from one location to the next?

It is important to be comfortable and relaxed during our transfers. Therefore we always rent spacious brand new nine seater vans so that everyone can enjoy the ride, sleep or have a nice chat.

What’s the food like?

We love our food and therefore try our best to find the most typical and delicious local cuisine, whether in a grandmother’s kitchen or in a fine restaurant. The inspiring picnics we enjoy on our hikes are made using fresh local products and freshly prepared on the spot.

What if someone has dietary needs?

We accommodate all types of special dietary needs. When we prepare our picnics we try our best to satisfying everyone. Therefore if you have any particular dietary request all you have to do is let us know and we will gladly accommodate it.

How are your trips rated? What does “moderate” mean?

We have active trips for every skill level, ranging from relaxed to strenuous. These guidelines will help you select the level of adventure that’s right for you.

Who took the pictures for you website?

All photographs and panoramic images were shot with medium format and 35mm film. Our photographers are Macduff Everton, who specializes in landscape photography and Lorenzo Acciai, who specializes in portraiture.
